Utah Women: 3 Organizations to Grow Your Real Estate Career

Network, Find a Mentor, or Grow Your Business With These Local Organizations

It’s no secret that working, learning, and growing together is better! From the National Association of REALTORS to the Real Estate Investors Association, there are countless organizations designed specifically to add value to the lives and careers of agents. When specialized at a local level or focused specifically on women in real estate, these groups can become even more effective and valuable for female agents in any market.

Women Can Grow Their Careers With One of These Local Organizations

While women now make up the majority of residential real estate agents nationwide, the industry has a long history of exclusion. As a result, professional women’s groups were created to offer support, knowledge, and opportunities. Many of these organizations still enrich lives and careers today, whether through virtual meetings, panels, or leadership positions. These three local groups give female agents across Utah the opportunity to gather, connect, and grow.

Women’s Council of REALTORS

The Women’s Council of REALTORS, an offshoot of the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), was created in 1938 when women were still barred from joining local NAR groups. Today, with 80 years of rich history and a legacy of superior business leadership and political action education, the council is one of the strongest women’s groups in the real estate industry. There are currently 12,000 members across the nation, with local chapters in nearly 40 states. The benefits of membership include leadership conferences, national conferences, business leadership education, and training on presentation skills, running a business, negotiation skills, and networking and referrals.

The Utah Women’s Council of REALTORS is the Beehive State’s local chapter, which offers an array of even more specific groups in certain markets, from Salt Lake City to Northern Wasatch. Your local group could open doors to networking, leadership, and other growth opportunities. If you’d like to join the Council, start with their “Find a Network” tool.

CREW Utah

Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Network was founded in 1989 to empower women in the heavily male-dominated commercial real estate (CRE) industry. As of September 2020, women comprised only 36.7% of the entire CRE industry. Furthermore, this figure has not exceeded 37% within the last 15 years. Today, the national CREW Network uplifts 12,000 women nationwide through its networking, leadership development, research, and career outreach opportunities.

CREW Utah, the local chapter, was founded in June 2007 by women from all parts of the commercial real estate sphere. The organization’s goal is to unite local women for networking, educational, and career advancement opportunities while furthering gender equity and greater diversity in commercial real estate. Benefits include networking and leadership opportunities, member mixers, subsidized registration fees for organization events, complimentary property postings, access to the CREW Network Member Database of more than 12,000 commercial real estate professionals worldwide, and more. To join, review the necessary qualifications and complete a membership application.

Utah Real Estate Investors Association

The National Real Estate Investors Association (National REIA) was established in 1985 to galvanize the industry through networking, education, support, and leadership. Not unlike commercial real estate, wide-spread bias still exists in real estate investing. In August 2020, more than 25% of women reported that gender diversity is lacking or severely lacking in the industry. Even more disappointing, over 33% of women reported feeling that their gender affected the opportunities they received. While not a women’s group specifically, the resources provided by National REIA and their local chapters could significantly benefit female real estate agents interested in investing.

The local chapter, Utah Real Estate Investors Association (Utah REIA), connects diverse professionals to cultivate relationships and learn strategies to yield successful real estate ventures. Benefits include monthly events, community involvement initiatives, government advocacy, and more. To join, review membership pricing and register an online account.
