Florida Real Estate License Renewal
Florida sales associates are required to complete 45 hours of approved Sales Associate Post-Licensing education within 18-24 months after getting their real estate license.
*Note that Post-Licensing is different than Continuing Education.
Post-Licensing education is the education required (per the state law) after a license is issued to solidify an agent’s expertise whereas Continuing Education is coursework that’s required to maintain their license and keep them up to date with industry changes.
Brokers are required to complete 60 hours of approved Broker Post-Licensing courses within 18-24 months after obtaining their initial license.
The process to renew your license in this state is to log in to the online licensing system and follow the prompts to renew.
Florida Continuing Education Requirements.
Sales Associates & Brokers
In Florida, the continuing education requirements for sales associates and brokers are the same. Both must complete 14 hours of continuing education every couple of years.
The renewal dates for sales associates and brokers are 3/31 or 9/30 every two years. The date you renew depends on when you took your licensing exam.
Continuing Education Hours Required: 14 hours
- 6 hours – Mandatory hours (Core Law, Ethics, and Business Practices)
- 8 hours – Elective hours
Your educational provider will notify the Florida Real Estate Commission after you complete your 14 hours of CE courses. The state requires schools to report course completions within seven to ten days from the course completion date.
Fortunately, you can complete your CE online at your own pace.
