Your Guide to Real Estate Reciprocity in Montana

Montana Out-of-State Licensing Requirements

The Montana Board of Realty Regulation does not offer formal licensing reciprocity. However, if you’re a real estate agent licensed in another state and wish to sell real estate in Montana, you can apply for a license through the Out-of-State Licensee/Waiver Process. You’ll need to apply for licensure, take the state exam, and pay the appropriate fees.

You can find the real estate salesperson license application in the online portal through the Montana Board of Realty Regulation website. When completing the application, you’ll be prompted to submit your out-of-state real estate licensing history. You’ll also be required to show that you’ve passed the Montana Real Estate Exam.
