- How Long Does It Take?
- If students spend 10 hours per week on coursework, they will complete the 90-hour education requirement within 9 weeks. Students who treat their coursework like a 40-hour work week can finish within approximately 2 weeks.
- How Much Does It Cost?
- North Dakota Pre-Licensing education varies in cost from about $700-$900. Total cost to get licensed will depend on application, license, and exam fees, as well as other associated expenses.

Complete 90 Hours of Approved North Dakota Pre-Licensing Education
To start, you must successfully complete 90 hours of real estate Pre-Licensing education courses.

Pass the Education Course’s Final Exam
After you complete all the course materials, meet the minimum time requirement, and pass the practice exam, there is a course final exam. The minimum passing score is 70%.

Submit your North Dakota Real Estate Salesperson Application
Students need to submit their salesperson real estate licensing application online. NDREC no longer accepts paper applications. The real estate salesperson application fee is $150. As a part of this process, the North Dakota Real Estate Commission will also run a credit history, which will cost an additional $9.60.

Submit your Fingerprints
All applicants must provide a set of fingerprints to the North Dakota Real Estate Commission for state and national fingerprint-based criminal history records check. Fingerprinting can be done at various locations in North Dakota or in any state. Bring the Fingerprint Verification Form to a fingerprinting location. After the form is completed and the prints taken, they are put into an envelope and sealed. The applicant is responsible for sending this sealed envelope to the North Dakota Real Estate Commission along with the Criminal History Record Check form and a check made payable to North Dakota Attorney General for fingerprinting analysis fees.

Take the North Dakota Real Estate Exam
Schedule your North Dakota Real Estate Salesperson exam by registering with PSI. The Candidate ID will be ND followed by the last 6 digits of your Social Security Number. For more detailed information, please refer to the Candidate Information Booklet found on the PSI website.

Submit your Request for a Real Estate License
Once you’ve completed all North Dakota Salesperson licensing requirements, final request for licensure in ND includes:
- Submitting your North Dakota Application To Issue Real Estate License.
- E&O insurance document.
- Certificate of Pre-Licensing Education.
- State and National exam score results from PSI.
- Signature and sign-off from your Sponsoring Broker on the application.
