Requirements:

  • Be determined to have good moral character
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Be a U.S. citizen, a U.S. national, or an alien authorized to work in the United States
    • DACA recipients are not eligible to obtain an Oklahoma Real Estate license. INA Section 248 (8 US Code Section 1258) requires the beneficiary to be in a lawful non-immigrant status to begin with, before their status can be changed. In order to be granted a change of status into a non-immigrant status like H-1B, TN, or R-1, INA § 248 requires the beneficiary to be in lawful non-immigrant status to begin with; DACA is not considered a lawful non-immigrant status.
How Long Does It Take?
If students spend 10 hours per week on coursework, they will complete the 90-hour education requirement within 9 weeks. Students who treat their coursework like a 40-hour work week can finish within approximately 2.5 weeks.
How Much Does It Cost?
Oklahoma Pre-Licensing education varies in cost from about $399-$659. Total cost to get licensed will depend on application, license, and exam fees, as well as other associated expenses.

  1. Complete 90 Hours of Approved Oklahoma Pre-Licensing Education OR 6 Hours of College Credit in a Real Estate Discipline

    The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission requires 90 hours of Provisional Sales Associate Pre-Licensing education at an approved real estate school. After completing the coursework, you’ll need to pass your school’s final real estate exam. College attendees with at least 6 credits in a real estate discipline may also qualify.

  2. Submit your Fingerprints and Pass the Background Check

    In order to take your licensing exam and complete the real estate licensing application, you’ll need to submit your fingerprints for a background check. Both the Commission to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations and the FBI will review your record, then report back to the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.   3. Schedule and Pass the Oklahoma Real Estate License Exam

    Students can take the Oklahoma Real Estate Salesperson exam in person at any of four locations: Oklahoma City, McAlester, Tulsa, or Woodward. Exams are taken by computer and distributed via Pearson VUE. You can visit their website to find the appropriate address.   4. Complete the Oklahoma Provisional Sales Associate Application

    All applicants must have completed their licensing requirements and Pre-Licensing coursework within the previous 36 months. Applicant fees exist and are subject to change without notice.   5. Find a Sponsoring Broker

    In order to begin working as a real estate agent, you’ll need to find a sponsoring broker division, you can apply online here. By law, agents may not enter contractual agreements without a qualifying broker’s oversight. This step can be completed at any time after passing your Pre-Licensing coursework, although it is not required until you plan to start working as an agent.

Oklahoma Post-Licensing Requirements
