California State Requirement Details for Appraiser Continuing Education

Renewal Date: 4 years from the date of issuance (USPAP is required every 2 years)

Hours Required by the State: 56 hours

  • 7-hour USPAP Update Course (required every 2 years)
  • 4-hour Federal and State Laws and Regulation Course
  • 2-hours of Elimination of Bias
  • 1-hour of Cultural Competency
  • 42 hours of approved continuing education

The CE Shop’s Offering: 56 hours

  • 7-Hour USPAP Update Course (required every 2 years)
  • 3-Hour Cultural Competency and Elimination of Bias
  • 4-hour Federal and State Laws and Regulation Course
  • 42 hours CE Elective

The CE Shop is an approved provider in California.

Reporting: The state does not require schools to report course completions.

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account. See Terms & Conditions for more details.

Certificates: Immediately upon appraisal course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion with your renewal. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

License Renewal Process: The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew. Instructions for this process may be found here

Seat Time: It is required that all students spend a minimum amount of seat time engaged in the course content. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.
