New York State Requirement Details for Appraiser Continuing Education
Renewal Date: every 24 months
Hours Required by the State: 28 hours
- 7-hour USPAP Update Course
- Fair Housing and Fair Lending Education:
- 4-hour Update to Fair Housing and Fair Lending course (if you have completed Fair Housing, Fair Lending and Environmental Issues (RE-2) or (GE-1) prior to January 1, 2022) OR
- 7-hour Introduction to Fair Housing and Fair Lending course (if you HAVE NOT completed Fair Housing, Fair Lending and Environmental Issues (RE-2) or (GE-1) prior to January 1, 2022) NOTE: subsequent renewals require the 4-hour Fair Housing and Fair Lending course
- 14-17 hours of approved continuing education depending on your Fair Housing and Fair Lending course requirement noted above
Note: If you renew more than 185 days after the expiration date of your license, you must complete an additional 14 hours of approved continuing education for each year that has lapsed.

Reporting: The state does not require schools to report course completions.
Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account. See Terms & Conditions for more details.
Certificates: Immediately upon appraisal course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion with your renewal. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.
